In his first year, former Cardinals outfielder Matt Holliday is removed from the Hall of Fame ballot.

The Class of 2024 Baseball Hall of Fame was announced on Tuesday night. While it was predicted that no St. Louis Cardinals would be inducted, former outfielder Matt Holliday received surprisingly little support.

Merely 1% of voters voted for Holliday in his first year of eligibility, indicating that he won’t be on the ballot again in the foreseeable future.

Holliday started his professional career in Colorado, where he played for five seasons and was a three-time All-Star. In 2007, he led the Rockies to their first World Series trip in franchise history and finished second in the MVP voting. Todd Helton, a teammate of his with the Rockies, was inducted this past weekend.

Holliday was moved to the Oakland Athletics after the 2008 season, and he was later traded to the Cardinals following another strong first half. Holliday was a beast at the plate in the 63 games he played for St. Louis in the second half. He slashed.353/.419/.604 with 16 HR and 55 RBI as the Cardinals made a run for the postseason.
