
Texas’s Austin Prior to the 2018 season, the Texas Longhorns appointed Joe DeCamillis, a former special teams coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams, as special assistant to the head coach in an off-field capacity. However, sources state that DeCamillis is currently his route to South Carolina in the same capacity, having spent just one season in Austin.

During DeCamillis’s tenure with the Longhorns last season, the Horns excelled in every facet of the phase and Texas became one of the nation’s top special teams teams. The Texas special teams unit was outstanding in every aspect, whether it was place kicking, coverage, returns, punting, or everything in between. They were a major factor in the team’s first-ever College Football Playoff appearance.

DeCamillis has spent every one of his 32 NFL seasons on special teams. The Jacksonville Jaguars, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Atlanta Falcons, Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos, and Rams are among the teams he has coached. He will now try to impart some of his championship-winning knowledge to the Gamecocks and serve as Shane Beamer’s go-to pair of eyes when it comes to the tiniest matters.
