With less than two days left, the Golden State Warriors—more than any other team in the Western Conference—need to make a deal.
On Tuesday, February 6, Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz stated that Golden State was the best team to sign Portland Trail Blazers forward Jerami Grant, provided Andrew Wiggins and future draft compensation were included in the deal.
Do you recall the previous season, when Andrew Wiggins led the Warriors to a postseason series victory while playing excellent defense and making about 40% of his three-pointers? Now that might be Jerami Grant.
Golden State needs a forward who can play various positions, shoot a great three-point arc, and be a consistent second or third scoring option every night because Wiggins is having trouble.
The Warriors may utilize Chris Paul’s expiring contract to help broker a deal, or they could see if Portland would be interested in trading Grant for Wiggins in exchange for some draft selections as an added incent
rant is a versatile offensive player who, according to Basketball Reference, scored 21.3 points per game on average during 43 starts in the 2023–24 season, which is the second-highest total of his career. The combo forward is shooting 48.9% from beyond the arc and 40.3% from the 3-point line on 5.1 tries per game.
The 6’7″ and 210-pound Grant is capable of playing numerous front-court spots in defense. That doesn’t mean he’s doing a very good job of protecting those positions, though.
