Even before he had a morpher, the greatest Red Ranger and leader of the Power Rangers was the epitome of the ideal superhero. Some of the coolest characters on Power Rangers, from role-model Rangers to naïve heroes who discover how to be the best versions of themselves, have come from the show’s most mature seasons.
Legends like the first Green Ranger Tommy Oliver and the original Pink Ranger Kimberly Hart will always be included in any list of the greatest Power Rangers characters. Nevertheless, those would be incomplete without a few names that entered the storyline just after Mighty Morphin. One of the Lightspeed Rescue Rangers was an excellent team leader prior to joining the Power Ranger team.
Red Ranger Carter Grayson of Power Rangers: Lightspeed Rescue is regarded by many as one of the best characters in the series. This is partly because Carter was one of the few characters in the Power Rangers universe to be a hero before he was a Ranger. Prior to joining the squad, the Red Ranger from Lightspeed Rescue was a firefighter, and his stellar career led to his recruitment for the operation. After taking over as the Power Rangers’ captain, Carter Grayson kept up his firefighting career, and the Lightspeed Rangers were more like public servants than superheroes.
