Tennessee running backs coach Jerry Mack has accepted the same role with the Jacksonville Jaguars. On Friday, 247Sports’ national college football reporter, Matt Zenitz, reported that the Jaguars were targeting Mack.
Jacksonville is coming off a 9-8 season and is looking to revamp their offensive staff, with quarterback Trevor Lawerence still on his rookie contract.
A few suitors have approached Tennessee assistants this offseason, but Mack is the first to leave the program.
Defensive line coach Rodney Garner stayed at the University of Tennessee despite reports that he was considering a return to his alma mater, Auburn. Head coach Josh Heupel has retained most of his coaching staff, a big development for the Vols moving forward. Mack was instrumental in developing running back Jaylen Wright. He was Tennessee’s first 1,000-yard rusher since 2015 and declared early for the NFL Draft.
