TRAUMA: It has been confirmed that a key Lakers player is hurt.

The 28-26 Los Angeles Lakers will be missing four important (kind of) role players when they take on the 8-44 Detroit Pistons tonight at 7:30 p.m. PT.

However, you were presumably aware of that.

As anticipated (and supported by the NBA’s most recent injury report), four bench role players for Los Angeles will sit out tonight’s game against the Pistons.

Max Christie, a shooting guard in his second year, and Cam Reddish, a lottery pick turned reclamation project in 2019, who are both sidelined by sprained right ankles, are expected to return to Los Angeles after this weekend’s All-Star break. Although Christie hasn’t played well this season, he wasn’t invited to the Rookie-Sophomore Game on All-Star weekend, so he’s not missing anything.

However, backup point guard Gabe Vincent and defensive-minded combo forward Jarred Vanderbilt are out for an extended period of time. Spencer Dinwiddie, a recent buyout market addition who will make his Purple and Gold debut tonight, has essentially taken Vincent’s spot for the immediate (and possibly long-term) future. Vincent has only been healthy for a whopping five games since joining LA on a three-year, $33 million deal over the summer.
