Josh Heupel received terrible news from LSU coach Matt McMahon just now.

Tennessee quarterback Joe Milton III had a strong final campaign in Knoxville, Tennessee. While he didnโ€™t dispel all the narratives on his accuracy problems, Milton still put together a winning season and made big throws for the Vols throughout the course of the season.

He looked good in practices at the Reeseโ€™s Senior Bowl, though he did have a tough outing in the actual game. The story around Milton has always been the same โ€“ supreme physical talent with some delivery inadequacies. ESPN got an up-close look at Milton through the Senior Bowl and had conversations with several scouts about where they see Milton ahead of the draft.

โ€œHe makes all the throws with the same velocity, and some easy completions get away from him,โ€ said one AFC South scout who saw Milton play several times at Tennessee. Evaluators polled said Miltonโ€™s physical stature and his arm strength, however, would be enough for a team to draft him on Day 3. Milton completed 64.7% of his passes with 20 touchdowns and five picks in his final season.โ€ ESPN on Joe Milton III
