The Tennessee Volunteers added Tulane transfer wide receiver Chris Brazzell this offseason, and SEC Network’s Cole Cubelic has high praises for him.
Through the transfer portal, Tennessee realized they needed to add another body to the wide receiver area. The year was not good for the room as a whole, and Ramel Keyton left. In order to fill that demand, head coach Josh Heupel and colleagues searched the transfer portal and discovered Chris Brazzell, a wide receiver transfer from Tulane.
Brazzell had a great rookie season with the Green Wave, hauling in 44 passes for 771 yards and five scores. After the season, he was inducted into the portal and was named a Freshman All-American. The 6-5, 195-pound player was promptly identified by the Vols, who brought him to campus. Cole Cubelic of SEC Network discussed that inclusion on his radio program, “McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning.”
Chris Brazzell, a 6-foot-5, 195-pound wide receiver for Tulane, will be moving to Tennessee. Given the opportunities that would be presented to them, any wide receiver would want to be a part of that offense. Last year, he had 44 catches for 711 yards and five receiving touchdowns. I must admit that when I looked at him yesterday, I was astounded by what I saw. In the first place, he doesn’t appear 6-foot-5 on film. Although he appears lengthy, huge wide receivers frequently have poor lateral movement. They seem a touch stiff, almost like an undersized tight end, when they transition in and out of their breaks. That’s not how Brazzell looks at all. He is incredibly athletic, very loose, and very smooth. It appears that he runs clean routes. With Chris Brazzell, the wide receiver out of Tulane, and his height and athleticism, I believe Tennessee has struck gold with this acquisition.” Cole Cubelic’s assessment on Chris Brazze
