The finest sports logo for Alabama: Should the Tide replace their iconic Script A with this one?

Fans of Alabama are divided. Not on the future—which, in the wake of Nick Saban’s unexpected resignation, new head coach Kalen DeBoer is trying to brighten—but on logos.

Which logo represents Alabama the most? Of course, we’re talking about sports. Since 2004, the Script A—which bears a striking resemblance to the iconic Atlanta Braves logo, albeit without the small curly cap on top—has come to represent the University of Alabama in both academics and athletics. It’s safe, albeit a bit boring at times.

Don’t overthink it: Someone in the men’s basketball program is aware that the red block A with the elephant poking through it is the ideal logo. Head basketball coach Nate Oats commented on the team’s alternate uniforms, which had the iconic emblem on the shorts, saying, “I do like the old ‘A,” at a news conference.
