Great news: Tennessee appoints four former coaches as assistants.

According to Austin Price of On3’s Volquest, UT filled their linebackers coach opening yesterday with William Inge, who formerly worked with new Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer at Washington. Inge was supposed to coach outside linebackers with DeBoer at Alabama, but the deal fell through for unknown reasons. This is the second coach in a week to change his mind about working with DeBoer at Alabama, as offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb recently accepted a similar position with the Seattle Seahawks. Grubb also brought Scott Huff, former Washington offensive line coach and now former Alabama offensive line coach, with him, bringing the total number of coaches who have left DeBoer’s staff to three since his hiring on January 12th. Nobody wants to see a city burn.

The 50-year-old Missouri native has a long coaching career that has taken him through several places. He began working as a graduate assistant and recruiting coordinator at Iowa in 1998 after finishing his playing career (four years at Iowa and one year with the Titans as a defensive end).

He served two seasons with the Hawkeyes before going on to Northern Iowa for three seasons, including his final season as co-DC. From 2006 to 2015, he coached in five different places, including one year as Buffalo’s defensive coordinator and another as the Bills’ assistant defensive line coach.
