What Nick Saban said about Kalen DeBoer, Alabama’s next coach: “Among the sharpest football minds”

When Kalen DeBoer got to Tuscaloosa as Alabama football’s new head coach, one of the first orders of business was to settle the Tide’s recruiting down before the February signing day. He pull it off, convincing five-star Saraland wide receiver Ryan Williams to stick to his commitment and sign with UA.

On Tuesday, DeBoer was asked what Williams brings to the table during a radio appearance on Tide 100.9 in Tuscaloosa. He had high praise for the young wideout.

DeBoer described him as “one of the most, just dynamic guys I’ve ever seen at receiver.” “He can make short throws, quicker routes, and down the field just by getting the ball in his hands. He is excellent in every manner.

Williams received two Mr. Football awards throughout his playing career. Every major recruiting service has him classified as a five-star prospect.

Following Nick Saban’s retirement, Auburn made a last-ditch effort to recruit Williams; however, the young player recommitted to the Crimson Tide and ultimately signed his NLI.

DeBoer remarked, “I was just so drawn to him, not just as a football player but as a person.” When you converse with him and he withdraws from what he hears, it’s

DeBoer was also questioned over the addition of edge-rusher Noah Carter to the Crimson Tide. Prior to DeBoer’s departure, Carter had already signed with Washington and moved to Tuscaloosa with his coach.

The 247Sports composite rated the 6-foot-4, 220-pound Carter as a four-star talent.

“Dynamic in various senses,” according to DeBoer. He can play at the line of scrimmage, in my opinion. He can actually play off the line of scrimmage in our defense in a variety of ways, in my opinion. Simply said, the continuous pressure he can apply to a pass rush. He’ll fill out his frame, which is an excellent frame in my opinion. When you watch his highlight reel, you can see how at ease and confident he is in the air as a football player.
