No, it wasn’t the case that Inge obtained the title only to enhance the job’s appearance. He shared the role of defensive coordinator with safeties coach Chuck Morrell, and their distribution of tasks appeared to be quite equitable. Both were highly involved in defensive game planning, but Inge was the main defensive play caller. They both gave weekly press conferences.
