The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the San Antonio Spurs 123-118 the next night, led by LeBron James, to recover from their defeat to the Golden State Warriors in their first game following the All-Star break on February 22.
Following the match, James couldnโt help but be in awe of Victor Wembanyama, the rookie for the Spurs and the first overall choice.
James said, โThat kid is SPECIAL,โ in a post on February 23 on X, the previous Twitter platform.
Wembanyama recorded a 5ร5 line at the end of the game with 27 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists, 5 blocks, and 5 steals. The 7-foot-4 phenomenon recorded the 15th 5ร5 line in NBA history at the lowest age ever, and in the fewest minutes ever.
Following the game, James told reporters, โHe doesnโt have a ceiling; he can do whatever he wants to do with his career.โ From the outside looking in, it appears that he puts in the effort and enjoys the game. Of course, I donโt live with him every day. However, Iโve mentioned how unique he was for a long time, and it really is that easy.

After the Spurs defeated the Lakers in December, LeBron also lauded Wembanyama, referring to him as a โspecial talentโ. Wembanyama has expressed gratitude for Jamesโ good remarks and has even accepted the characterization of James as a โalien.โ

James referred to Wembanayma as โspecialโ once more in his farewell interview. However, he also made sure to give a nod of respect to legendary head coach Gregg Popovich.
James told ESPNโs Mike Trudell, โHe has an amazing coach that will make sure that he does things the right way, plays the game the right way.โ
โSimply the greatest regard [for Popovich].โ arguably the best coach of all time. More significantly, though, one of the greatest individuals I have ever met. And I adore Coach Pop in its entirety. And you know, it means a lot to me to be able to talk to him, share the floor with him, and have this friendship.

Jamesโ ankle issue, which has been on the injury report the whole season, prevented him from playing in the Lakersโ defeat to the Warriors.
After his comeback, he destroyed the Spurs with 30 points, nine assists, seven rebounds, and one steal.
