New Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore appears to have overcome his first two significant difficulties since taking over for Jim Harbaugh. Moore’s deadline was February 23, 2024. Following Harbaugh’s departure to the Los Angeles Chargers, the transfer portal window for Michigan athletes closed on that date. Moore faced two important problems upon taking over: assembling a new staff and keeping as many key players as possible for the 2024 team. Moore appears to have overcome both hurdles and can now concentrate on spring practice.
Many supporters hoped that after Moore was named head coach, he would be able to keep the majority of the coaches on his staff. Moore faced a difficult path ahead of him, but he overcame some challenges and made it to the finish line. In the end, Moore appears to have assembled an experienced team on both sides of the ball.
Moore was promoted from inside on offense, and he will continue to work with the same coaches in 2023. Kirk Campbell, the quarterback coach, now also serves as the offensive coordinator. Grant Newsome transitioned from tight end coach to offensive line coach. Steve Casual transitioned from senior offensive analyst to tight end coach. JB Brown advanced from special teams analyst to special teams coordinator.
