On Monday, March 11, at 2.29pm, officers responded to reports of an armed robbery at Sankey Valley Park. A 41-year-old woman was sat on a park bench near the Sankey canal path when she was approached by two unknown individuals, believed to be teenage boys, who threatened her and demanded she hand over all her possessions. When the woman refused, one of the boys revealed a small knife to her and she handed over £30 in cash to the boys.
The woman refused, at which time one of the boys showed her a tiny knife and she paid them £30 in cash. They threatened her more and demanded her phone. The woman refused and attempted to reclaim her stolen money; however, one of the lads kicked her in the face, leaving significant facial bruises.
Cheshire Police claimed they then departed the area on foot towards Warrington Hospital.
Investigations into this event are ongoing, and officers are asking anyone with information or camera footage to contact them.
This ordeal has left the victim considerably shaken and enquiries are currently underway to identify those responsible.
“As part of our investigation I’m keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and believes that they may have seen anything suspicious.
“I’d also ask residents in the area to check their CCTV or video doorbell footage to see if they have anything which may aid our investigation.
“The same goes for any motorists with any dashcam footage.”
