He debated whether or not to inform Ranger Suarez that the lefty would not be going long into his start Saturday night. The Braves have six right-handed batters who have smashed lefties this season, and the Phillies felt confident in matching up their high-velocity right-handed relievers.
Suarez started the night with three scoreless innings, facing the required nine batters. He finished 10 of the first 11 with the only.
Suarez faced the minimum of nine batters and pitched three scoreless innings to start the game. With the only runner on base being erased on a stolen base attempt, he retired 10 of the first 11. He utilized both corners, and his changeup and curveball were also successful.
