Alexander Mattison joins a Raiders club with question marks to repair their offense.
Alexander Mattison will join the Raiders’ backfield, which also includes Zamir White and Ameer Abdullah. Looking at the figures, Mattison would most certainly start, although he and White might compete for the team’s RB1 spot. Filling the shoes of Josh Jacobs offers a challenge, but both are currently the Raiders’ top choices.

However, the squad has made other moves as well. With quarterback Gardner Minshew joining the picture, another quarterback duel might emerge. Minshew, who has spent the majority of his career as a backup, has demonstrated his ability to step up when called upon to start. It will be intriguing to see who will be calling the shots for the Raiders come September, given that Aidan O’Connell has also shown ability.
Christian Wilkins, a defensive tackle, is the biggest signing in free agency this year. The addition of the former Miami Dolphin strengthens the Raiders’ defensive line. Maxx Crosby alone is a headache for offensive lines. Quarterbacks will have to be more aware of the center gaps between their protectors.
Overall, the Raiders still have over $28 million in salary cap space, so more names will undoubtedly arise in the coming weeks.
