Building a sports complex is supported by John Middleton and the Phillies.

 

The Phillies have expressed support for a plan to build on the Veterans Stadium site, which is 20 years after it was demolished.

The Philadelphia Flyers’ parent company, Comcast Spectacor, said in a news release on Thursday morning that the Phillies have joined its transformation of the South Philadelphia Sports Complex.

“My impression of what distinguishes Philadelphia is our incredibly loyal fan base and close-knit community. The goal of this initiative is to increase the number of residents, employees, and tourists in that community, according to a statement by Phillies managing partner John Middleton. “Philadelphians and visitors will have more opportunities to celebrate our passion and pride for our city and our teams with the creation of new spaces and experiences.
