FAYETTEVILLE: The sixth exercise of spring drills saw too many fumbles and dropped passes for the Arkansas Razorbacks, who looked like a football team coming off Spring Break on Tuesday. Nevertheless, there were plenty of great offensive plays to offset the mistakes.
It was around thirty-five degrees outside with lots of wind gusts as the Razorbacks played inside Walker Pavilion in shorts and shoulder pads in Northwest Arkansas.
During 7-on-7 drills, Taylen Green and Andrew Armstrong, whose relationship got off to a great start in the spring, continued to have success as they connected on a deep touchdown pass. Armstrong appeared to be lined up against sophomore cornerback Jaylon Braxton for the majority of his reps and added another one-handed catch. Some of the best high-level reps of the spring have come from that pairing.
Armstrong also avoided a near-miss when safety Jayden Johnson misread a fast pass over the center and sparked a collision that might have resulted in serious injuries but fortunately did not.
The second offense converted a first down and nearly ran out the clock in the last two-minute drills and get-the-ball-back periods, which were won by the defensive units with the exception of one.
