Breaking News: Mel Kiper predicts that Jaylen Wright will be selected in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Three Longhorns land in first round of latest 2024 NFL mock draft - Yahoo Sports

With the 2024 NFL Draft rapidly approaching, a few Tennessee Volunteers will soon find out where they will play professionally. Running back Jaylen Wright is the most well regarded of the group, particularly in light of his amazing NFL Combine showing.

Wright has a good chance of becoming the first running back selected in what is anticipated to be a rather poor running back class next week. With his most recent mock draft released on Monday morning, ESPN’s Mel Kiper added to the growing consensus that a round three landing spot will be selected.

Wright was drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders 77th overall according to Kiper.

One more running back off the board, finally. Josh Jacobs left the Raiders, thus there will be chances for touches in 2024.

Jonathan Brooks, a running back from Texas, was selected 56th overall by the Dallas Cowboys, according to Kiper.

Over the past two seasons, Wright truly blossomed, becoming Tennessee’s most potent runner. Wright’s astounding 7.4 yards per rush as a junior tied for second place in the FBS. This previous season, he surpassed 1,000 yards, increasing from his 2022 total of 875 yards. Those figures would undoubtedly be far higher if he hadn’t been splitting time with Dylan Sampson and Jabari Small.

The 5-10 back gained a lot of muscle during his time in Knoxville, and he currently weighs 210 pounds. Wright’s explosiveness and speed were evidently unaffected by the additional weight, as he recorded a 4.38 in the 40-yard dash.

Wright, a once-overlooked three-star prospect, is the focus of the NFL. At some point on Friday night, he should go off the board, and the Raiders (who lost to Josh Jacobs) or Cowboys (who lost to Tony Pollard) are two excellent options for where he could land.

Thursday, April 25, is when the 2024 NFL Draft is scheduled to start, and it will continue until Saturday, April 27.
