Now that Jim Harbaugh was hired in January to coach the Chargers, the veteran running back is expected to play for the brother of former coach John Harbaugh. Additionally, he will get back together with Gus Edwards, a former running back for the Ravens who joined the Chargers in March.

In February, the Chargers also hired Greg Roman, the former offensive coordinator for the Ravens. The Chargers’ prior offense saw a number of players go, including running back Austin Ekeler and wide outs Keenan Allen and Mike Williams.

In March, the Chargers cut Williams and traded Allen to the Chicago Bears. While Williams signed a free agent contract with the New York Jets, Ekeler signed with the Washington Commanders.

Dobbins, Edwards, and Isaiah Spiller will be in the Chargers’ running backs room together. The Chargers’ wide receivers include Derius Davis, Joshua Palmer, and Quentin Johnston. In the upcoming NFL Draft next week, they will also have the No. 5 overall choice, which they may utilize to choose an offensive playmaker.

Last season, the Chargers’ rushing yardage ranking was 25th. With 628 yards and five touchdowns on 179 carries across 14 starts, Ekeler led the club. His 4,355 career running yards are the second fewest on the Chargers all-time list, behind only LaDainian Tomlinson (12,490) and Paul Lowe (4,972).
