The Buffalo Bills have let go of a number of prominent veterans ahead of the free agency period, but it’s uncertain if safety Micah Hyde, who has played for the team for seven seasons, will follow suit. Hyde’s two-year, $19.25 million contract expires after the 2023 NFL season, thus he’s officially a free agent. Even though the 33-year-old is considering retirement, he still plays the annual charity softball game. On Wednesday, April 17, the seasoned fan favorite shared the news on his Instagram Stories. He wants everyone to know how meaningful this is to him and his entire family, even though he isn’t on the squad right now.
“Our never-ending effort over the past three years has taken our game to new heights, and I will always be appreciative of your steadfast support even though my future is still uncertain. I know this, and I’m looking forward to seeing you all again on May 19!
Hyde mentioned that he is using this year’s funds for something “special.” “Every participating player who has a foundation or donor advised fund” will receive funding. With that, we will collaborate as a team to improve our beloved community in a number of ways.
Donors who are ready to spend $1,000 can get an intimate meet-and-greet with Hyde on the field during the fourth annual charity game. There’s a Home Run Derby competition prior to the game, which pits the offense of the Bills against the defense and quarterback Josh Allen.
