Jonah Jackson has played with the Detroit Lions during each of his four NFL seasons. However, the former offensive lineman for Ohio State is now free agent, as of Monday.
Jackson and the Los Angeles Rams have reached an agreement, according Mike Garafolo of NFL Network. According to Garafolo, Jackson agreed to a $51 million, three-year contract that included a $34 million guarantee.
The Lions selected Jackson with the 75th overall pick in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Jackson started as a rookie and participated in almost every game during his NFL career, swiftly establishing himself as an important member of Detroit’s offensive line. Jackson helped the Lions make their first-ever trip back to the NFL playoffs in 2022 and was chosen to the Pro Bowl.
Jackson, a native of Media, Pennsylvania, started all two years as a starting guard and center for the Scarlet Knights at Rutgers. For Rutgers in 2017, Jackson started six games at center. He started all 12 games as a starting guard for the Scarlet Knights the next season, and his play earned him an honorable-mention selection to the Big Ten by the coaches and media. Rutgers was ranked second in the Big Ten and 19th overall with Jackson on the offensive line, allowing just 1.33 sacks per game. Jackson was chosen a captain in his senior year at Rutgers in addition to his play.
Jackson joined the Buckeyes in the 2019 offseason as a graduate transfer. The Scarlet and Gray were his preference above offers from both.
After enrolling at Ohio State in June, the former Scarlet Knights player was the team’s starting left guard as the fall season got underway. He played a key role in one of the nation’s top offensive line lineups, which held Heisman Trophy contender Justin Fields upright for the majority of the season and set the stage for record-breaking season from running back J.K. Dobbins.
