The Biden-Harris and Trump camps’ approaches to voter mobilization in Nevada appear to be different with seven months till the presidential election. The Biden team has set up many campaign offices in the Las Vegas Valley and is hosting frequent gatherings on a range of topics, including Black maternal health with medical professionals and gun violence with survivors of the UNLV incident. Vice President Kamala Harris has visited the Silver State four times since January, and prominent national Democrats have come out to support the Biden-Harris campaign. But at this stage of the election cycle, it’s unclear what Donald Trump’s team is doing in the Silver State. His Google campaign office is no longer open; a solar panel company now occupies the space.

The campaign’s staff stated that their team is in Nevada and is actively working, but they would not elaborate on their outreach initiatives. They declared their intention to keep the campaign’s tactics a secret from Democrats. In a statement, Chris LaCivita, the chief of staff of the Republican National Committee and senior adviser to the Trump campaign, said that the candidate’s operation is powered by hundreds of thousands of small-dollar donors and has energized supporters. He added, “We have the message, the operation, and the money to propel President Trump to victory in November without sharing our strategy with Democrats through the media.”

A PRIORITIES CHANGE HERE? George W. Bush was the last Republican presidential candidate to win Nevada in 2004. Democrats have since declared victory, albeit occasionally by slim margins. For example, Democrats won Nevada by roughly 2.4 percent in both 2020 and 2016. Although Trump has prevailed in every Nevada primary he has entered, he has lost two general elections in the state, which has an electorate that is becoming more and more composed of independent voters. Is it possible that the previous president doesn’t think winning Nevada is important? David Damore, a political scientist, believes there might be more involved.
