Texas’s Austin The Tennessee women’s swimming and diving team made history by having several CSC Academic All-Americans in back-to-back years, as the organization named three Lady Vols to the first team.
UT, the only university in the nation had three first team honorees, included seniors Mona McSharry and Brooklyn Douthwright, both juniors, and Josephine Fuller, a senior. Both McSharry and Fuller were named to the first team of the CSC Academic All-America previous season, while Douthwright and Fuller were named to the third team. This is their second consecutive season of earning this accolade. With the three receiving the honors in consecutive years, Tennessee’s record number of multi-time Academic All-Americans doubled to six in the history of the program.
With a 3.57 GPA as a Kinesiology major, McSharry became one of just two people to be selected to the first team on several occasions, along with 1998 Academic All-American of the Year Kathy Pesek. Throughout her career, she has appeared on the SEC Academic Honor Roll three times, and in 2021, she was named to the CSCAA Scholar All-America First Team.
The Sligo, Ireland, native is coming off her best season as a Lady Vol, finishing as the NCAA runner-up and SEC Champion in both breaststrokes. McSharry earned All-America honors in six events and won a total of seven medals at SECs, including a third gold in the 400 medley relay.
A Biomedical Engineering major with a 3.82 GPA, Douthwright earned 2023 CSCAA Scholar All-America recognition and boasts a pair of SEC Academic Honor Roll accolades while on Rocky Top. She’s won eight medals throughout her career at the SEC Championships, including a pair of gold medals, and she’s garnered All-America honors in seven events.
Fuller owns a 3.93 GPA as a Psychology major. After a breakout sophomore campaign last year, the Richmond, Virginia, native once again elevated her success in the pool, finishing inside the top five in all three of her individual events (100 back, 200 back, 200 IM) at the NCAA Championships. She was the top point scorer for the Lady Vols at NCAAs after garnering All-America First Team honors in seven events. At SECs, she won six medals throughout the meet, including five silver.
Fuller majored in psychology and has a 3.93 GPA. Following an impressive sophomore year, the Richmond, Virginia, native improved her pool performance once more, placing in the top five in each of her three individual events at the NCAA Championships (100 back, 200 back, and 200 IM). At the NCAAs, she led the Lady Vols in scoring after being named to the All-America First Team in seven different events. She took home six medals from the SECs competition, five of which were silver.
