Chicago Reliever Luke Little of the Chicago Cubs revealed that an American flag patch required him to alter his glove before he entered Wednesday night’s 4-3 victory over the Houston Astros.
In the seventh inning, manager Craig Counsell decided to pinch-in Little with one out. However, the 6-foot-8 left-hander was informed that he needed to change his glove as he went through the routine inspection that umpires perform on pitchers before the game.
Counsell stated, “The problem was that his glove had the American flag on it.” “There’s a stringent rule that pitchers’ gloves cannot have any white on them. It appears that the flag included something that would have diverted the hitter.
