No. 3/3 KNOXVILLE, TENN. Tennessee dominated the first game of its series against Missouri, tying a season best with six home runs and winning 10-1 at Lindsey Nelson Stadium on Thursday.

All ten of the Vols’ runs came from the long ball, yet only six of their ten hits for the game left the yard. So far this season, UT has hit six home runs in a single game five separate occasions.

Billy Amick resumed his career-high two-home run game in the middle of the week, increasing his total to 16 for the season. The junior third baseman has 11 RBIs in his past two games after going 3-for-5 and scoring four runs.

In order to start things off, Christian Moore led off the first inning with a home run, his sixth of the previous six games. Moore had another fantastic night at the plate. The native of New York went 3-for-4 during the game, walking and scoring two runs.
In the second inning, Cal Stark extended his career high five times by hitting a three-run home run, giving UT a 4-0 lead.

In the bottom of the eighth, Cannon Peebles hit his first home run of the season, completing the scoring for the Big Orange.

Starting pitcher Chris Stamos and reliever AJ Causey combined for nine strikeouts in 8.2 innings of work, giving up just one run. They were quite effective on the mound. After throwing six innings out of the bullpen and ending with six strikeouts, Causey earned the victory to raise his record to 7-3 on the year.

Danny Corona went 2-for-3 with a single home run in the ninth inning to lead the Tigers (19-24, 6-13 SEC) at the plate.

STAT OF THE GAME: Blake Burke’s program-record 31-game hit streak came to an end on Thursday night as he failed to collect a hit for just the third time this season, ending the longest hitting streak in the country.

UP NEXT: The Vols (35-7, 13-6 SEC) will try to win game two of the series on Friday night in order to record their sixth consecutive SEC series victory. SEC Network+ and the ESPN app will stream the game, with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
