Another option for Tennessee enters transfer portal

Guard Chaz Lanier of North Florida has formally registered on the transfer site, and some are already making the connection to Tennessee. The 6-4 guard was raised in Nashville, Tennessee, and went to Brentwood’s Ensworth High School. Now that he has one more season of eligibility, is Lanier planning to finish his undergraduate career at Volunteer State?
Lanier used a no-contact tag when he accessed the site. Despite keeping his NCAA eligibility, he declared last month that he was going to enter the NBA Draft.

Lanier had an apparent explosive season as a senior last year. Lanier finally got his chance and made no mistakes, averaging 4.7 and 4.5 points respectively as a sophomore and junior. Using extra minutes, the nimble shooting guard increased his scoring to 19.7 points per game, a startling improvement over the previous three seasons.

Lanier’s three-point percentage was an astounding 44%. Lanier was the nation’s most productive offensive player last season, per Synergy Basketball.

After signing Dubar and welcoming freshman guard Bishop Boswell, Tennessee still has five unfilled scholarships. A lineup that includes Ohio State center Felix Okpara, Charlotte forward Igor Milicic, Belmont wing Cade Tyson, and now, possibly, Lanier, is what they hope to use to cover those positions.
