Undrafted rookie free agents: Team signings after 2024 NFL Draft

Three VFLs from Tennessee football were selected in the 2024 NFL Draft, which has concluded. After the draft is over, clubs and prospects will now use free agency to sign undrafted free agents to bolster their rosters in camp, while prospects will try to win a position on a team.

It should come as no surprise that all three of the Vols were selected on the third draft day, considering their relative positions among their contemporaries. While many of this year’s running back class fell to the third round, NFL general managers did not appear to value Jaylen Wright, who had the potential to be selected in the second round.

Teams and players are eager to add players to their camp rosters when the NFL Draft concludes. This allows players who are not selected in the draft to demonstrate their value to the team that offers them a “prove it” contract.

Currently, nine players from Tennessee are signed to UDFA (undrafted free agency) contracts with teams around the league. These are all of the Vols who have agreed to terms with their new team in hopes of being added to an NFL squad.
McCallan Castles was Tennessee’s tight end for just one season, but he made the most of it. In his only season at Rocky Top, he caught 22 passes for 283 yards and five touchdowns. His five touchdowns were the second-highest of any receiver.
