Birmingham, Alabama – Karlyn Pickens has been selected as the SEC Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season by the Southeastern Conference.

During Tennessee’s series against No. 17 Alabama, the right-hander made two outings and recorded a win and a no-decision.

The flamethrower won her 17th game on Saturday night after pitching 5.1 innings without giving up a hit, striking out seven and giving up just one free pass. With the victory, Tennessee won its eighth consecutive conference series, the longest winning streak in SEC history for the program.

With the win on Saturday, Pickens also recorded her 13th complete game of the year and her 10th shutout.

Over her career, the Weaverville, North Carolina native has now received seven weekly honors from the SEC.

 

The third-ranked Lady Vols play host to No. 24 Kentucky this Thursday-Saturday, May 2-4 as both teams close out the regular season.
