Todd Walker names Tennessee as SEC team ...

Postseason baseball is just around the bend at the collegiate level. In actuality, it’s less than a month away.

On Monday, May 27 at 12 p.m. ET, the 2024 NCAA Baseball Tournament selection show will take place. Regionals are scheduled to start on Friday, May 31, and run through Monday, June 3. Super Regionals will take place the following weekend from Friday, June 7 through Monday, June 10.

The Men’s College World Series will begin on Friday, June 14 in Omaha, Nebraska, and the three-game finals will take place on June 22–23–24 in Omaha.

This weekend, No. 3 Tennessee travels to Florida for the first of two back-to-back SEC rivalry series; the Vols play the Gators in Condron Family Ballpark on Thursday night before wrapping up the series with night games on Friday and Saturday. The Big Orange come into the series having won six straight conference series after losing their SEC opening weekend matchup at Alabama. Tony Vitello took over the program, which had not advanced to the postseason since 2005. Tennessee is the only SEC program and one of just four teams nationwide (Stanford, Texas, and Virginia) to have played in the postseason.

The Vols, along with Texas A&M, Arkansas, Clemson, Kentucky, North Carolina, and East Carolina, are currently ranked as the top eight national seeds by D1Baseball. This would allow them to host the first two weekends of the NCAA Tournament prior to the College World Series.

The Volunteers are ranked No. 4 overall by D1, and they will host the Knoxville Regional against No. 2 West Virginia, No. 3 Virginia Tech, and No. 4 Bryant. Duke, the 13th overall seed, and the Durham Regional would square off against each other. No. 2 Mississippi State, No. 3 Troy, and No. 4 Columbia are the teams the Blue Devils are expected to host.
