Vols' Blade Tidwell by the numbers ahead of NCAA Super Regional

Tennessee baseball’s series victory against Florida over the weekend has made them the new national champion squad. Just the second time in school history, the Vols climbed up two spots to take the top spot in D1Baseball’s poll on Monday morning.

Texas A&M, which was ranked first earlier in the season, dropped two of three games against LSU over the weekend, allowing the Vols to take the top spot. To aid in the effort, No. 2 Arkansas also dropped its series against Kentucky.

With two weeks left in the regular season, Tennessee was one of seven SEC teams rated in this week’s poll. No. 3 Texas A&M, No. 4 Kentucky, No. 5 Arkansas, No. 13 South Carolina, and No. 14 Kentucky joined UT.

But the Big Orange’s offensive woes continued in game two, as they were only able to muster three runs on six hits in a 4-3 loss that set up a crucial rubbermatch for this coming Saturday night.

In the series finale, Tennessee blew open a one-run game with 11 runs in the sixth inning, defeating the Gators 16-3 in seven innings to win the series for the third time in a row. With three runs scored, two two-run doubles, a three-run home run, and a career-high seven RBIs, Hunter Ensley drove UT’s offensive explosion.

This week’s midweek matchup between UT and Queens will take place on Tuesday night. The opening pitch is set for six o’clock ET.

After that, the Vols will travel for a second straight road series. They will go to Nashville to play their bitter rival Vanderbilt in a three-game series that starts on Friday at 7 p.m. ET. The series finale on Mother’s Day will also go off at 3 p.m. on ESPN2, with game two on Saturday starting at the same time on the SEC Network.

Head coach Kenny Brooks of the University of Kentucky women’s basketball team revealed on Sunday that the program had signed a seasoned guard with 5-8 experience.

Pronounced Day-Zha, Dazia Lawrence is a graduate transfer from Charlotte who will begin her studies in 2024–2025.

Brooks remarked, “We are thrilled to have Dazia join BBN.” “She brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the program and will provide a scoring punch.”
