The Class of 2025 safety from Kahuku (Hawaii) High School has never been to Tennessee’s campus, and he has no intention of visiting any other universities over the next few weeks. However, the Vols quickly captured his attention after they extended their first SEC scholarship offer almost three months ago. Since then, he has heard a lot from Tennessee coach Josh Heupel’s staff, and the Vols are now among the six teams he is seriously considering as he starts to work toward his college decision. Aiden Manutai has scheduled an official visit to Tennessee for the weekend of June 7, and he is looking forward to traveling to Knoxville.

The Huskers’ final midweek game of the season took place on Wednesday night, continuing the midweek nightmares that have dogged Nebraska baseball in the second half of the season.

The Huskers had a 6-2 lead over South Dakota State entering the top of the eighth inning. However, the Huskers lost to the Jackrabbits 10-6 after giving up a three-run home run in the eighth and five runs through two singles and another three-run home run in the top of the ninth.

With the calendar turning to April, Nebraska’s record in midweek games fell to 1-6 with the loss.

Regarding the Huskers’ midweek problems, junior Joshua Overbeek said, “We play on the weekend, you get three games against a team, and you go on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and play teams that are closer to you and treat games against us like the World Series, it definitely creeps into your brain a little.” Maintaining consistency is key; each game is just as important as the others. Whether it’s Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday, or Friday night, we have to remain steady, pick up our guys, and give it our all. It is irrelevant.

Despite leading after seven innings, Nebraska lost the game despite using ten pitchers this season, dropping to 23-4 overall.

Early in the game, the Husker offense had opportunities to put the game out of reach, but they failed to take advantage of them. Nebraska capitalized on South Dakota State starter Alex Clemons’ control problems. The game’s first run was scored when Clemons walked the next four Husker hitters after retiring the opening one of the game. Going to the bullpen, the Jackrabbits were able to stop the threat when Clay Bradford struck out and Garrett Anglim grounded out.
