Breaking News Three unrestricted free agents 49ers could be a target in the NFL Draft in 2024…see more

49ers quarterback Brock Purdy speaks to the media about his NFL offseason prior to the 2024 NFL Draft.
One of their best players will soon want another hefty contract extension from the 49ers, thus they will eventually have to bite the bullet.

No, Brandon Aiyuk, the wide receiver, is not the topic of discussion. it being said, general manager John Lynch and the front office currently rank it as their top priority.

The next offseason, third-year quarterback Brock Purdy will be eligible for a contract extension, and one of his former teammates thinks he’ll get a big salary.

On the “All Facts No Brakes” podcast, Keyshawn Johnson interviewed Logan Ryan, the former 49ers safety, about Purdy and his future with the team.

No, he’s not going anywhere. “I believe they will also give him a bag,” Ryan remarked. “No, he will be among the top paid, I think. People are going to be surprised. As in, what? You will talk about that for a very long time. But no, he’s not going anywhere.”

Just before the 49ers’ victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 14, on December 5, Ryan signed a contract with the organization. The veteran safety quickly saw how safe Purdy’s position was and how much 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan values the young signal-caller.

Shanahan adores him. True, true, true. I arrived there about a week before our Christmas match against Baltimore,” Ryan recounted. “Do you recall that game? Furthermore, he threw four picks, many of which were tipped balls; all in all, it’s just a rough day at work. Even though he didn’t play well, he had three picks in the first or third quarter. He’s still jumping in, slinging it, trying to win the game, tossing the ball, like, in the fourth quarter.

“And Shanahan recalled saying, ‘I’ve taught a lot of quarterbacks,’ he added in a meeting. Quarterbacks attempt to check it down, protect, protect, when they have three or four interceptions.

You know, leave that place, leave Dodge. Not attempting to absorb any more blows. He remained somewhat in his progression, but there was a sense of shooting around him. This dog has something on him.”

Ryan, an 11-year veteran, has faced several of the best quarterbacks in the NFL and has emerged victorious.

After facing numerous elite quarterbacks in the NFL, Ryan, an 11-year veteran, was amazed by Purdy’s ability to create plays.

“And he always would ask me questions about [Tom] Brady and stuff like that,” Ryan went on. “And you saw, I believe, that the 49ers were a club accustomed to playing ahead throughout the playoffs. We fell behind early in the playoffs, but Purdy came charging back, making plays with his feet and arm in the second half. In addition to his cognitive abilities, he exudes a canine charm. He processed, in my opinion, like a Kirk Cousins. However, I don’t think people completely recognize the dog that he also has inside of him, but he does it.
