Monday!!! And you amazing orange-clad supporters know what that means. Let’s take a seat at the table, carve up the orange-and-white bird, and enjoy some pure Tennessee Vols goodness straight from my brain. 1) The Base Vols continued to lead the nation in all major polls after defeating Vanderbilt 3-0 in Nashville over the weekend. The team’s nine-game winning streak came to an end on Sunday, but you can’t win them all. 2) You can, however, win (almost) all of your series, and Tennessee just keeps doing that. With their victory over Vandy on Saturday, the Vols secured their ninth
consecutive SEC series.
SEC has been this year – there are five teams with legit shots at receiving national seeds – that’s just a stupidly-good accomplishment.
Nevertheless, despite all of that, work still needs to be done. Even with the Vols’ incredible season, Kentucky still leads the SEC East by one game. This weekend, Tennessee plays South Carolina, while the Cats host Vanderbilt. Vandy, go (puppies). The Vols own the tiebreaker because they have defeated Kentucky in two of their three meetings this season. Therefore, to take first place in the SEC East, Tennessee’s series against Kentucky must be just one game better than Kentucky’s.
4) Tennessee, Kentucky, and Arkansas are vying for the top overall SEC score. This weekend, Texas A&M will host the Hogs.
6) Joe Milton had “too much talent,” according to Pats executive VP of player personnel Eliot Wolf. I mean, I feel like a lot of these NFL executives and scouts see what they want to see with some players, and Milton is no exception. They see a thoroughbred horse that can run faster and stronger than any other horse on the planet, and they think they can mold and train him, but the unfortunate thing about Milton as a pro prospect is that no matter what you do, he’s going to run over the racetrack barricade and out of the stadium at any given moment.
