The Longhorns had opportunities to win all three of their losses, which included a 4-2 loss to No. 14 Arizona in the ITA Indoors and a 4-3 loss to No. 1 Virginia in the first game versus No. 2 TCU. The last singles match in both the Cavaliers and Horned Frogs contests ended in a third set, with the Longhorns having a match point in the second set in the TCU match.

Texas places second overall in the NCAA Championships of 2024.
The NCAA released the 2024 NCAA Championship field on May 1 and Texas is ranked second overall. Due to inclement weather, the First and Second Round matches were shifted indoors at the Weller Indoor Tennis Center on Friday, May 3, and Saturday, May 4. The Longhorns triumphed 4-0 over both Sacramento State and No. 25 UCLA in these matches. On Friday, May 10, they hosted a Super Regional and defeated No. 17 Texas A&M 4-0 once more. After ranking as the top seed the previous year, Texas is

a top-two seed this year for the second year in a row and the third time in the previous five years.

Since its introduction in 1977, the bracketed tournament has amassed an all-time record of 76-39 (.661). For the seventh year in a row and the ninth time in the last ten years that the tournament has taken place, Texas hosted the first round of the NCAA Championships. It also hosted a Super Regional for the third time in the four years that the event has included one. The Longhorns not only won the 2019 National Championship but also finished second nationally in 2008 and advanced to the semifinals in 1993, 2006, 2009, 2021, and 2023. They have advanced to the round of 16 in each of the previous ten years, having made six trips to the quarterfinals in 2014, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2023, and 2024.

For their fifteenth encounter since 1975, Texas and Tennessee will square off, with the Longhorns leading the series 8–7. It will be the first since 2021, when the No. 10 Volunteers defeated the No. 5 Longhorns 4-2 in the ITA National Indoors consolation bracket in Champaign, Illinois. Before that, in the Austin ITA Kickoff Weekend at the Texas Tennis Center in 2018, No. 8 Texas defeated Tennessee 4-1. Three times in the NCAA Tournament, the Longhorns and Volunteers have faced off in the Round of 16. Texas has prevailed five times in the series, 1-0 in 1993, 4-0 in 2002, and 4-3 in 2009.
