Pickens is the Top 10 runner-up for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award.

Oklahoma City Karlyn Pickens of Tennessee softball has been selected as one of the top 10 finalists for the National Player of the Year award by USA Softball, the organization announced on Wednesday.

With a 19-6 record and a 1.26 ERA, which is tenth best in the US, Pickens is the SEC Pitcher of the Year. With 186 strikeouts in 156 innings pitched so far this season, the flamethrower is limiting opposing batters to a.160 batting average.

The sophomore has made 33 appearances (24 starts) and thrown 13 complete games with 10 shutouts.

Pickens is the 11th player in program history to be listed in the top 10 for the award; this is the 16th time an athlete from Tennessee softball has made the list.

The USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award, which is regarded as the most prestigious individual distinction in Division I collegiate softball, is given to Division I softball players in recognition of their exceptional athletic success during the whole season.

On Monday, May 20, the NCAA Women’s College World Series will take place before the Top 3 Finalists are announced and the 2024 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year is announced.
