TKNOXVILLE, Tennessee – Four Lady Vols were selected as Southeast All-Region teams by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, which released its all-region teams on Thursday. Karlyn Pickens, Kiki Milloy, and Payton Gottshall were named to the first team, and Zaida Puni was named to the third team.

Softball student-athletes from the ten areas of the NFCA who were selected for the first, second, and third teams are honored with the All-Region awards. Student-athletes were nominated by NFCA member head coaches from each separate region, who then cast votes for the teams. All recognized student-athletes are now qualified to be included in the NFCA Division I All-America teams for 2024.

Payton Gottshall, one of the top pitchers in the country, has a 19-4 record and an eighth-best 1.25 ERA. The right-hander has pitched two shutouts and seven complete games.

For the fourth time in her Tennessee career, Kiki Milloy was named all-region. She has 12 doubles, 12 home runs, and 29 RBIs this season while slashing.355/.697/.464. The regular leadoff hitter has 24 stolen bases and 59 runs scored, which leads the team. In her final season at Rocky Top, Milloy has broken numerous career records and is now UT’s all-time leader in runs and home runs.

Karlyn Pickens became the second player from Tennessee softball to win SEC Pitcher of the Year last week. Pickens was just named a top 10 finalist for USA Softball National Player of the Year. With a 19-6 record, the right-hander has the ninth-best ERA in the country at 1.26. This season, Pickens has worked 156 innings and struck out 186 batters, limiting opposing hitters to a.160 batting average.

Zaida Puni, who was named all-region for the second time in her career, has been a key member of Tennessee’s starting lineup this year. Puni is slashing.277/.577/.409 with 17 runs scored, 12 home runs, and 37 RBIs.

46 different student-athletes have earned 88 All-Region selections for the Lady Vols since 1997.

This weekend, Tennessee will host the 19th consecutive NCAA Knoxville Regional at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium to kick off NCAA Tournament action at home. Miami (OH), Dayton, and Virginia are the Lady Vols’ postseason opponents. At around 2:30 p.m. ET on Friday, the Lady Vols take on the Flyers in their first regional matchup.
