
Tennessee – Knoxville – Junior transfer Head coach Alison Ojeda of the Tennessee women’s tennis team said on Monday night that Vanesa Suarez is the newest member of the team.
The native of Valencia, Venezuela, will enroll in the Lady Vols program in 2024–2025 after two more years of college eligibility.
Head coach Alison Ojeda stated, “We are thrilled to have Vanesa on our team.” “She will bring some experience to our program and most importantly, she fits the culture we work hard for.”
After playing for two seasons at Kansas State, where she was selected in the spring of 2023 for the Big 12 All-Freshman Team, Suarez has come to Rocky Top. She played mostly at the No. 1 spot for the Wildcats, posting a 21-28 singles record during her tenure there.

Prior to her collegiate success, Suarez graduated from Tecnologico de Monterrey in Mexico, while training at Credito Real Tennis Center in Yucatan, Mexico.
Associate head coach Matias Marin said, “We are very excited.” Vanessa is a good fit for our team and culture and has experience. She will keep assisting us in raising the bar for our program.”
She has competed in a number of high-profile tennis competitions over her career, including international tournaments, ITF tournaments, and the Junior Fed Cup Team. One of her noteworthy accomplishments was placing second in the doubles competition at the 2020 J4 Tampico Junior Open in Mexico. She also advanced to the J4 Guayaquil Junior Open semifinals in doubles in Ecuador in 2019. She won the U16 Singles Champion title in the USA’s Casely International Championship in 2018.
Suarez is the fifth recruit that Tennessee has formally revealed for its 2024 recruiting class.
