A famous MLB player expresses affection for the Tennessee Vols following the crazy benches clearing episode.
Seven-time All-Star Bryce Harper of the Philadelphia Phillies, first baseman, showed some love for the Tennessee Vols on Wednesday during a press conference following his involvement in a bench-clearing altercation with the San Francisco Giants.
Giants left-hander Kyle Harrison threw up and in to Harper twice while he was at bat in the top of the fourth inning.
Both benches cleared as a result of the second inside pitch.
Earlier past winter, Tony Vitello, the head coach of Tennessee, talked to WBIR about Harper’s growing interest in the Vols.
“The first person to notice that players like Trey Lipscomb and Drew Gilbert played similarly to Bryce was his father. He began to watch our team a little bit and take in the aesthetic,” Vitello remarked. “I believe that when you move to Tennessee and enter SEC country, you have to choose a team and a side. Again, I don’t mean to speak for him, but I believe it is a blessing that he has developed a passion for the Vols.”

Before being chosen by the Washington Nationals with the first overall pick in the 2010 MLB Draft, the MLB superstar attended the College of Southern Nevada as a 17-year-old.
Strangely enough, Harper was a part of a San Francisco benches clearing incident exactly seven years ago today.
