Drew Gordon, 33, a former NBA player, passed away  in Portland, Oregon on Thursday, the Denver Nuggets and his agent Calvin Andrews confirmed to ESPN.

In the 2014–2015 NBA season, Gordon appeared in nine games for the Philadelphia 76ers.

He was the older brother of current Denver Nuggets player Aaron Gordon, who was born in San Jose, California.

In addition, he played for three Russian teams, the G League, France, Lithuania, Poland, Sardinia, Turkey, and Serbia.

He was a former McDonald’s All-American who played in New Mexico and UCLA for his college career.

In 2023, Gordon announced his retirement from professional basketball. He thanked the game and his fans on his X (previously Twitter) account at the moment.

“I’m grateful for everything you’ve given me, basketball! I’m retiring on my jersey year since I’ve given you my all over the years. I’m grateful to everyone of my supporters—fans, friends, and family—who have helped me along the way! It’s time for the next chapter! “Hello 33, goodbye 32,” he uttered on X.

Following his retirement from the NBA, he and his sister co-founded the LVL (Limitless Victories and Legacies) group, an organization that manages athletes’ careers.

His three children and his wife, Angela, survive him.

On their X account, the Denver Nuggets expressed their sympathy.

The news of Drew Gordon’s untimely death has shocked the Denver Nuggets organization. Although Drew passed away much too soon, his three lovely children and all of his loved ones will carry on his legacy forever. Aaron and the Gordon family are in our thoughts and prayers during this very trying time.

Senior journalist for ESPN Marc J. Spears also posted about Gordon’s passing on his X account.

“May the great man, father, brother, all-around guy, and basketball player who toured the globe to play the game, rest in peace. My condolences to his spouse, kids, and relatives. I’m very glad I was able to spend April in Portland with him.
