Chris and Kate Malveaux have been appointed as co-head coaches for Auburn softball, the program announced on Wednesday.
After spending the previous three seasons at Tennessee, where Chris Malveaux assisted in revamping the Lady Vols’ offense and Kate Malveaux assisted with the team’s catchers and baserunners, the Malveaux duo arrives at The Plains.
Collectively, they contributed to Tennessee’s back-to-back SEC regular season championships in 2023 and 2024.
Auburn athletics director John Cohen stated in a release that “it was evident in our meeting with Chris and Kate that their synergy was an indomitable force.” “There is no denying their contributions to Tennessee’s victories the last three seasons. We can’t wait to have Chris, Kate, and their family visit Auburn.
Tennessee’s offense averaged 6.87 runs per game in 2023, which was good for first place in the SEC and third nationwide.
Kiki Milloy, who in 2023 established Tennessee’s single-season home run record with 25 long balls—the most of any Division I player that season—was also influenced by Chris Malveaux. Later that season, Milloy was recognized as an NFCA first-team all-American.
Chris Malveaux was a part of the coaching staff at Missouri from 2019 to 21. He served as associate head coach for two seasons and as an assistant coach for one season before joining Karen Weekly’s staff at Tennessee. Chris Malveaux was instrumental in the Missouri Tigers’ offensive improvement each year as the squad hit.284 in 2019,.290 in 2020, and.320 in 2021.
In 2020 and 2021, Kate Malveaux was Missouri’s director of softball operations.
Chris Malveaux was the head coach of McNeese State from 2005 to 2008 before joining the SEC. He also had positions at Bradley University, Kansas, Louisiana-Lafayette, and Kansas. Malveaux assisted the McNeese State Cowgirls in winning the Southland Conference Tournament and making their second
