Atlanta Hawks said Trae young contact with the lakers was not accurately

The Los Angeles Lakers appear to be nearing the selection of their next head coach with only a few weeks remaining before NBA free agency begins. League source Marc Stein said that JJ Redick has already begun putting together his coaching team and that he will make the announcement about the hire himself during the NBA Finals.

Chris Haynes stated on the Dan Patrick Show, “I will be very surprised if their next Head Coach is anybody other than JJ Redick.” “JJ Redick sounds like everything I’m hearing. I understand that he is conducting background checks and contacting potential applicants for assistant coaching who may be able to join his staff.”

The Lakers voiced dissatisfaction at their lackluster season finale and fired Darvin Ham earlier this month. The Lakers, who were hoping to contend for a championship, placed seventh in the Western Conference and had to contend with the Denver Nuggets in five games during the play-in round.

Following Ham’s dismissal, the Lakers launched a thorough and comprehensive coaching search that allegedly attracted interest from assistant Chris Quinn of the Miami Heat, Sam Cassell, and James Borrego. But JJ Redick was regarded as the front-runner for the job from the start, and he almost certainly got it now.

During his 15-year playing career, Redick played for six different clubs and built a reputation as a leader in the locker room who placed the needs of the team first. His basketball acumen has been on full display since he made the move to the NBA media a few years ago, and the Lakers are hoping this is a hint that he may become the next Pat Riley.

Redick will be learning on the fly for the Lakers as he has no prior head coaching experience in the NBA, thus it is assumed that he would assemble a group of seasoned and well-respected assistants to round out his bench. Coaching staff members that Redick might choose are Borrego, Cassell, and former NBA swingman Jared Dudley.

It might take weeks until the Lakers officially announce their hiring of Redick, but it’s best to go cautiously at this point. This is especially true if they wish to hold off on making the announcement until after the Finals. The Lakers can’t afford to make any more mistakes if they want to make the most of their remaining star core, especially with LeBron James becoming 39 years old and the team coming off a poor season.
