NBA 2024 Draft green room invites Dalton Knecht….

One of the initial invitees to the NBA Draft green room is Dalton Knecht, a guard from Tennessee. Knecht was invited on Tuesday night, along with 12 other players, which may indicate that he will probably be selected in the lottery.

Knecht is permitted to bring six guests to the draft, where he will sit and wait for Adam Silver, the commissioner, to call his name. The opening round will be held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

During his time at Tennessee, Knecht will most certainly be Rick Barnes’ top draft choice. Overall, Jaden Springer finished 28th, Grant Williams finished 22nd, and Keon Johnson finished 21st. Barnes is used to lottery picks, of course. Barnes witnessed Kevin Durant and Lamarcus Aldridge finish second overall, Tristan Thompson place fourth, DJ Augustin finish ninth, and Myles Turner place eleventh during his tenure at Texas. TJ Ford and Chris Mihm were also among the top ten.

Now Knecht, who played just one spectacular season with Barnes in Knoxville, gets to add to that legacy. The 6-6 guard averaged 21.7 points per game, shooting a whopping 39 percent from three-point range. His ability to take over a game was special, as evidenced by his six 35+ point outings.

He’s viewed as a polished offensive player that needs a little work defensively. Knecht will bring instant scoring to the table though, which will be valued in what seems like a weaker class. He’s expected to go anywhere in the 6-14 range.

The 2024 NBA Draft is set to begin on June 26th at 8 p.m. ET.
