NBA favored Nikola Jokic to win MVP in the coming 2024-25 NBA season….
If the oddsmakers are correct, Nikola Jokic will win a fourth NBA MVP in the next 2024–25 NBA season, joining the ranks of five of the greatest basketball players of all time.
The only people to have won it four or more times are Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Michael Jordan, Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, and LeBron James. Jokic is the clear favorite to make the list, which is probably the rating of the top five hoopers of all time.
In a group of rivals who have faced off for the NBA’s top individual award over the previous several seasons, Jokic and Luka Doncic are co-favorites according to the odds that were made public shortly after the Boston Celtics won their 18th championship on Monday night.
Though not precisely the same, the odds for the upcoming season are comparable to the order of finish in this year’s race. Jokic finished ahead of SGA, Doncic, Giannis, and Brunson in that order. Embiid failed to play in enough games to keep the MVP award he received in 2023, but many believe young players like Ant and Wemby will have exceptional seasons in the upcoming race.
While Jamal Murray lost a significant amount of time in 2023–24, Jokic was his usual reliable self during the regular season and got better after the All-Star Break as Denver shot to a 21–6 record. Jokic set league records with his average of 26.4 points, 12.4 rebounds, and nine assists per game while shooting 58% (31,) Gain Shares
Michael Malone acknowledged he could have pushed his players a little too hard during the regular season, which resulted in the team’s early postseason elimination. Malone played 79 games, the most he has played during his three MVP runs over four seasons. He said, though, that Jokic seemed to be the only exception and that his star player did not lose steam during the playoffs. One of the Nuggets’ priorities heading into the offseason is to provide Jokic with more support from teammates who can produce as well as better center-court options to relieve him of some of his leg workload.
Jokic is on Serbia’s squad for the Olympics in Paris, which means his legs will be put to the test once more this summer. Honestly, it seems absurd to believe Jokic will still prevail.
