Coleman Hawkins believes that Illinois had “one more” chance to defeat UConn in the Elite Eight in March, so forget about the 30-0 run.

Hawkins said those things on a Sleepers Media podcast episode that was made available on Wednesday morning.

When asked “how many forty-minute games would it take for Illinois to defeat that UConn team?” Hawkins said, “We would have defeated them if we had played them again.”

Hawkins claimed that Illinois’ offense had no real offensive advantage and that the team’s strategy was a touch wrong. We all know what happened when the Huskies went on a 30-0 run from the end of the first half to the beginning of the second, despite his statement that he would have changed the gameplan.
