Paul Finebaum has identified a potential dominant SEC quarterback for 2024.

Paul Finebaum Admits His Optimism For Alabama Is Rising This Year

Josh Heupel’s tenure at Tennessee over the first three years has been incredibly successful. Tennessee needs to contend for a College Football Playoff berth after Heupel (27–12) guided the Volunteers to consecutive bowl wins.

Heupel will be playing quarterback for the third time in the final four seasons in 2024. Hendon Hooker led the Volunteers during his first two seasons. Joe Milton took over last season, and Nico Iamaleava, a former five-star, will start this coming season.

Paul Finebaum of SPN thinks that Iamaleava is a huge improvement over Milton and that the Volunteers might have a fantastic season with the gifted signal caller in the lineup.

Finebaum declared, “It is a significant upgrade over last year.” Nico has the potential to be in charge. He may have already demonstrated that in the bowl game and in certain other instances this season. With Nico, I’m incredibly optimistic about Tennessee, and I think this is going to be a huge year.

Iamaleava led the Volunteers to a 35-0 victory over the Hawkeyes in Tennessee’s bowl game versus Iowa. With 151 yards, one passing score, and three rushing touchdowns, he completed 12 of 19 throws. Many people are picking Tennessee as a possible dark horse in the SEC for the upcoming season after his incredible performance.

If Iamaleava has the breakout year Finebaum predicts, the Volunteers might make a run at the title, much like they did in 2022 when Tennessee finished 11-2 and took the sixth-best slot in the final College Football Playoff rankings.
