Texas Longhorns Baseball team rejects Coach Jim…

The Texas Longhorns announced on Monday morning that they will be parting ways with coach David Pierce after eight seasons, in a move that appeared inevitable. The Longhorns had a 297–162 (101–71) record throughout his eight seasons, and they qualified for the College World Series three times.
However, Texas and Athletic Director Chris Del Conte believed it was time to move on after they had repeatedly regressed after their most recent trip in 2022. Fixing Pierce’s replacement was critical for the Longhorns because the team would be playing in the SEC for the first time in 2025.
Rumors about potential hiring abounded after he left. However, Jim Schlossnagle, the coach of their rivals, the Texas A&M Aggies, was one name that kept coming up.
Chip Brown of Horns 247 has reported that Schlossnagle will be leaving Aggieland to take over as the Texas Longhorns’ next head coach.
He has held head coaching positions at UNLV, TCU, and most recently the Aggies for four times. Schlossnagle has had success at every place he has gone.
He qualified for the NCAA Tournament once in his two seasons at UNLV, and the Horned Frogs qualified for Omaha five times in his sixteen seasons at TCU. After making it to the CWS finals and his second trip to Omaha with the Aggies, he recently concluded his third season at Texas A&M.
