ESPN NFL Mock Draft reject James Pearce predictions…

You’re probably not even thinking about the NFL Draft for next year just yet, but Tennessee will have a compelling draft narrative to follow this year. In the 2025 NFL Draft, James Pearce, the standout pass rusher who became one of the greatest players in the country last season, might be selected first overall.
The former five-star prospect leads the early rankings of various pundits, including Matt Miller of ESPN. In Miller’s most recent (and far too early) mock draft, Pearce was selected by the Tennessee Titans with the fourth overall pick.
As a second-year starter, quarterback Will Levis has a season to prove himself, but his early returns were strong enough to put quarterbacks at the top of the selection discussion for the time being.
My preseason #1 overall pick and an in-state talent might end up with the Titans. Pearce, who is 6-foot-5 and 242 pounds, has exceptional quickness around the edge; in the previous season, he picked up 9.5 sacks. Last season, he also demonstrated his versatility with a 52-yard pick-six. Pearce would provide Harold Landry III an immediate lift.
From the very first game of the season against Virginia, Pearce was a complete menace off of the edge. All of that length paired with elite explosiveness and quickness makes for the ideal edge rusher at the next level. The scary part is that he’s had an entire offseason to get even better going into what will more than likely be his final season of college football.
Pearce is viewed by most as the top non-quarterback prospect in the class, but quarterback demand could obviously push him down a couple of spots. In Miller’s projection it was Carson Beck and Shedeur Sanders going 1-2, with cornerback Will Johnson going third. Quinn Ewers, Riley Leonard and Connor Weigman are other quarterbacks that could get into the conversation as well.
