OREM—Andre Johnson Jr., a two-time national champion, has transferred from the University of Connecticut to Utah Valley and will play for the Wolverines in the upcoming season, according to Utah Valley head coach Todd Phillips.

“We are thrilled to welcome Andre to the Wolverine family,” Phillips stated. “He is a skilled combo guard with a great shooting range. He gives UVU leadership and a winning genetic make-up. We anticipate that he would bring his winnings from the highest level to the Valley.”

The 6-foot-4, 182-pound guard Johnson Jr. participated in 13 games for UConn in the previous campaign, including three NCAA Tournament contests, and helped the club win a second consecutive national championship. Johnson Jr. saw time in both of the Huskies’ seasons.

The Bristol, Connecticut native prepped at South Kent High School, where he led the Cardinals to the national prep school semifinals in 2022. Johnson Jr. was a 1,000-point scorer at South Kent, earning conference player of the year and all-conference honors.
